14/09/2009 - OK, I'm off work, sick, so I finally have time to give an update. In February, we heard that Sarah was pregnant so we gave ourselves a kick in the ass to get working on the house. It’s difficult to remember exactly what we've done but it was a lot, including; a new roof, floors, electrics, plastering, new windows, new front wall of the house.

Of course, I didn't do everything on my own. We also had help from Roel, Wouter, Robin, Ruben, Mum, Dad, Claire, john and I've probably forgotten someone but if you helped us, let me know so I can add you to the list of people that deserve a big hug and a thank you.

The baby is due on 9th October so I still have a few weeks to do the painting, make a fire place, lay the laminate floors etc. Here come the pictures...

20/11/08 - This is how are future bedroom curently looks, it's a bit dusty but it shouldn't be too long before it's finished! ....we hope ;o)

18/11/2008 - After nearly a year, we're back. We got married in August, this took up a lot of our time (planning for the wedding) and we did quite a bit of work to the front half of the house. The photos are comming, I promise!

25/01/2008 - OK, after so many people asking when I´m gonna update this site, I´m finally here. One problem, all the photo´s are on my lap top so I´ll need to transfer them over. Just to let you all know; everything is going very well. The temporary kitchen, toilet, bathroom and bedroom are all pretty much finished. I put some photos on soon!

08/09/2007: Today we got internet access at the house so we can now continue to let you know everything that is happening. In the past week, we have been busy finishing the bedroom, kitchen and toilet. We have also painted the lounge, tiled & painted the bathroom and we are now living here reasonably comfortable. I will try to put more photos on soon so you can see whats been going on.

29/07/2007: Today, we moved the final items from our old house to the new one. We only have to clean, get rid of the rubbish and give back the keys. All of our belongings are currently standing in 1 room in the new house. Now the work begins...

Mid July last time: Our parents helped us making our bedroom (liefdesnestje) look nice (raar om daar -als we eenmaal in dat bed gaan liggen- over na te denken, maar kom). John and Claire painted the ceiling (white) and windowframe, John and Penny painted are walls (blue) and Sarah's dad (Bogdan) gave us some of his left over linoleum for the floor (more blue). Thank you for that!

Mid July third time: As the cupboard doors were painted, we could finally re-hang them. We have put on the worksurfaces and painted the walls with John and Claire. Claire and Ellen cleaned the cupboards and put all of our kitchenware in them. We started replacing the electrics. Chris did the plumbing while Sarah tiled. We only need to do some grouting, finish the electrics, do some sealing and spray the lamp and doorhandles.

Mid July again: Because we were advised that having linoleum walls in a bathroom was dirty and moist, we decided to remove the wall coverings and replace it with clean white tiles (still to be done). We chose to keep the old floor (which was under the floor linoleum) because it was till in good condition, it just needed re-grouting. Now that is done and Arjan helped us with the bathtub, we only have to do some painting and the tiling. Peace of cake!!!

Mid July: Hello, sorry it´s been such a long time, but we're back now! Since we last made an update, we have finished the toilet (finally) and it's red!!! Walls are painted, toilet and sink are installed, plinths are cut and fixed. We only need to do some silicone-sealing and make the cupboard. But for number 1's and 2's you are safe to go in the little room!

11/07/07: Sarah put two more layers of paint on the toilet ceiling and plasteredthe fireplace in the bedroom. Chris finished smoothing out the bathroom walls and cemented the big holes. Arjan came over with a new bath which he'll install for us in the next few days.

10/07/07: Today, Sarah, Chris, John & Penny were at the house. Sarah stated painting the toiulet ceiling. Penny striped some of the the wallpaper off the wall in the living room and Chris and John broke of the wall tiles and lino from the bathroom walls.

06/07/07: Chris cleaned the bedroom ceiling and Sarah painted the 4th and final coat of paint on to the cupboards. Ellen & Arjan (Sarah's sister and brother in law) came over. Ellen striped some more wall paper from the kitchen and did lot's of cleaning. Arjan took out the old bathtub and the bathroom linoleum.

05/067/07: Sarah painted the 3rd coat of paint on the cubpoards. Chris sorted out the tools and sanded the toilet doors and cleaned the toilet ceiling.

04/07/07: All by myself. don't wanna' be, all by myself.... Yes, today, I was all alone at the house. Sarah kindly took my Mum to the hairdresser while I plaster boarded another wall in the toilet. It took a lot longer then expected because the wall was bare brick and not straight at all!. Guy and Hugo cleared up some more of the rubble from the pig sties, they also hired someone to suck up all of the slurry from the shit pit! In the afternoon, we went shopping for linoleum.

03/07/07: (omdat een van ons uit Belgie komt, hier wat zever in AN- pakjes! :) ): geshopt, tweede laag van kastjes eindelijk klaar (8u !!!!!), Claire heeft alle deuren geschuurd behalve eentje, open haard slaapkamer gemetst, wc- muren geinstalleerd, begonnen met installatie wc-pompebakje, ... Sarah haar armen zijn dood en Chris heeft asbest-longen, maar we geven niet op! We moeten immers nog minstens dertig jaar gaan....

02/07/07: Today, Sarah finished painting the first coat of paint on the front's of the kitchen cupboards. Only three more layers and they will be finished! Chris insulated the toilet wall and covered it in plaster board. Claire and John came to help, they cleaned the bedroom, sanded the doors and plynths and took off some hard board that was covering the fireplace in the bedroom. Joke and Robin (good friends) came to visit us too but we weren't there. Jammer! :(

30/06/07: We went shopping today. We bought a new toilet, a sink, some plaster board, taps, and some other bits and bobs.

27/06/07: Today Sarah started painting the front of the cupboards and Chris and Guy made a temporary gate for security. Ruben also helped too.

26/06/07: Guy and Hugo demolished the rest of the pig sties today. We just have a big pile of bricks now! Ruben helped us paint the fourth layer on the kitchen cupboards. Now we only have to paint the door fronts and we're finished!

25/06/07: During the day, while we were working, Guy and Hugo knocked down the rest of the pig sty at the back. In the evening, Sarah and Ruben put the third coat of paint on the kitchen cupboards while Chris helped put all the old rubish onto a bonfire.

24/06/07: We did the second coat of paint on the kitchen cupboards and took off some metal wall fittings from the remaining pig sty.

23/06/07: Claire (Sarah's Mum) helped remove the wallpaper from the kitchen. We also sanded all of the kitchen cupboards and put the first layer of paint on.

21/06/07: Ruben & Guy helped take roof trusses off the pig sties. We moved some solid oak and Iron beams with the tractor. Chris got one on his knee, Ouch!
